The Luxus Advisory Board
The Luxus Advisory Board (LAB) was created with the purpose and intention to facilitate communication between Limited Partners (Approved Users) and the General Partner. LAB members are accessible to anyone in the Partnership who wishes to express their concerns and/or provide feedback or comments on issues that are relevant to their participation in the Partnership. The LAB will represent the Partnership with respect to property/destination requests, feedback, budget reviews, policy additions or amendments, disciplinary action reviews and any other items requested by the General Partner.
The Luxus Advisory Board members serve two year-long terms on the board, during which they advocate for the Partnership as well as promote the Partnership in the greater community. They serve as ambassadors for Luxus, and serve in a completely voluntary capacity.
Anna Loparco, 2010-2011 Luxus Advisory Board Member
Anna and her husband Gary joined Luxus in May 2008. As an Associate with FMC Law in Edmonton, Anna practices mainly in the areas of administrative law, civil litigation, intellectual property, and administrative and privacy law. Anna provides a valuable legal perspective to the LAB’s discussions. She is an active member of the community and volunteers her time with many organizations, including the Stollery Children’s Hospital and as a pro bono lawyer for the Edmonton Centre for Equal Justice with the Edmonton Community Legal Center. Anna and Gary enjoy travelling frequently to Luxus properties with their two young children. Anna serves as Chair of the 2011 LAB.
John Cardone, 2010-2011 Luxus Advisory Board Member
John and his wife Laurie joined Luxus in November 2007 and have enjoyed watching the Partnership grow from its inception. John has been self-employed for many years having owned and operated various businesses such as Sobeys/IGA for over 25 years and now owning 3 Tim Horton’s franchises in Calgary. John did not hesitate to volunteer his time in participating on the 2010-2011 Board, making the quarterly visits from his home in Calgary. His entrepreneurial spirit, business expertise and travel experience lend very well to the overall dynamic of the Board.
Colleen Stevenson, 2010-2011 Luxus Advisory Board Member
Colleen and her husband Darren joined Luxus in June 2008. As a Chartered Accountant for a private group of companies, Colleen has held many professional positions and has been involved with policy and procedure implementation and budget reviews. As the mother of a young family, Colleen also enjoys spending her time in other volunteer roles related to her children’s schools and extracurricular activities. Colleen is a great representative for the many families in the Luxus Partnership and provides valuable input on the Board. Meet Colleen and her family in the Luxus Video and Winter 2010 Newsletter!
Darryl Boessenkool, 2011-2012 Luxus Advisory Board Member
Darryl and his wife Anna joined Luxus in November 2008. Darryl has spent the past 15 years with the Edmonton Oilers Organization, currently serving as CFO and Executive Team Member of the Edmonton Oilers (NHL), Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL), Edmonton Capitals (GBL) and the Oklahoma Barons (AHL) sports teams. Born and raised in Edmonton, and graduating from the University of Alberta, Darryl demonstrates his strong commitment to the community by serving on the boards of a variety of charitable organizations. Darryl and Anna have a son and a daughter who keep them busy with various sports teams and activities; and the whole family enjoys travelling to the Luxus properties.
Patrick Duffy, 2011-2012 Luxus Advisory Board Member
Patrick and his wife Adrienne joined Luxus in October 2009. For over 25 years, Patrick has been a successful strategic consultant in a broad range of industries throughout North America. The expertise, duration and scope of his experience enable him to provide unique, sound and valuable input to the Board. Between personal and business travel, Patrick and his wife travel extensively each year – an estimated 40 trips! Their daughter Clara who studies in Victoria, BC enjoys joining them for their Luxus family holidays!
Greg Kubat, 2011-2012 Luxus Advisory Board Member
Greg and his wife Lisa joined Luxus in January 2010. As Vice President of Engineering at Nordegg Resources Inc, Greg brings a strong business background and can offer trusted advice on both the operating and capital sides of Luxus. Having experienced renting vacation properties in the past, Greg can also help prospective investors understand the value that Luxus can provide in saving on travel costs annually. Greg and Lisa live in Calgary with their two children, and look forward to helping Luxus expand its investor base in the Calgary area.
Darin Rayburn, 2011-2012 Luxus Advisory Board Member
Darin and his wife Barb joined Luxus in March 2010. As Vice-President of Investment Properties for Melcor Developments, Darin brings a strong background in commercial real estate to the LAB, as he is responsible for the acquisition, development, and management of the commercial property division in Western Canada and the Southern United States. Darin brings experience serving on boards for Junior Achievement, the Junior Achievement Golf Classic, and the Support Network’s “Networking in the Community” fundraising event. Their family has already begun to enjoy Luxus vacations with their two teenage daughters.
